CON 'EMPLOYER' IN DOCK FOR IMPERSONATION

A 26 year old man has been charged for impersonating a public officer and pretending to recruit for the General service unit.

Joshua Ngumu denied two counts of imeprsonation and obtaining sh 35,000 by false pretence.

Ngumu allegedlely convinvinced Margret Mwikali that he would help recruit the son who had low grades in school into the Kenya  police service.

Initially he had intended to obtain sh 100,000 for the same task, but mangaged to receive sh 35,000 in instalments of diverse dates.

Between 8th and 30th November this year, he jointly received the money at Huruma estate within Nairobi.

After several instances of being promised to receive the employment letter from the force, they realized they were conned and reported to police.He was put in custody at Muthaiga station on 26th December .

RM Alice Macharia granted him a cash bail of sh 10,000. The case will be heard on March 14th next year.

FEMALE ASPIRANT FACES BROTHER IN COURT


A female political aspirant has taken her brother to court after damaging her property and further stating murder allegations at her home within Nairobi.

George Macharia, 34, was charged on two counts accused of creating drama and insulting his elder sister in the afternoon of Box day.

Margaret Wangari ,an aspiring County representative in Mowlem watched a crowd gather in her compound on 26 th December of this month.

Tension was high when her younger brother accused her of 'killing' both husband and sister in the recent past.

The 38 year old aspirant called officers when the situation went out of control. She took offence when her campaign posters were torn and three windows  worth sh 3000 were broken.


Macharia appeared before a Makadara court and denied both counts of damaging property and creating disturbance. It was not clear weather he was under the influence of alcohol.

Resident Magistrate Alice Macharia granted a cash bail of sh 10,000 . The case will be heared on 14th March next year.

DR AND NURSES GLOW AT AUDITION EVENT

In recent weeks Doctors and Nurses have been on the fore front of striking. However, over the weekend a glowing party on their tribute charmed many as hosted by the Dj republik crew.



Even as the Medical  Services Minister Anyang' Nyong'o  called for striking nurses to be arrested two weeks ago, the professionals danced the night away at the Vineyard restaurant in Westlands.



The event  was dubbed Dr and Nurses Audition and planned for at least three months. It saw three Deejays spin at the deck together with a guest violin player Scott  who made enormous tunes to deejay mixes.

At least three hundred guests  were dressed in attires representing doctors and nurses as a dressing code.  If not in the looks ,one was  seen as a ' hospital patient'.



Many people sipped drinks from syringe and drips donated from various hospitals. 




Dj Republik Manager Kalekye Mumo told Word is "The event was a sign of appreciating the medical profession.  Its not all about the money , there's a fun side to their world despite the recent strikes they can also value themselves."

FATHER SENDS SON TO COURT FOR THEFT

A 23 year man confessed to stealing laptops valued at sh 150,000 from his father.

The College Student will remain in custody for one more week until the court can determmine his case.

He took  two laptops  from their house in South C in the morning of 29th November.

He timed as his father went to work and disappeared instantly to Kiambu for several days.

However, the student managed to pick up calls and promised not to sell laptops of  Toshiba and Acer make, including four modems all valued at sh 150,000.

His father reported to the police and he was traced in the outskirts of Nairobi but Officers made no recovery of stolen items.

The student was charged for stealing contrary to section 268 of the penal code.

The case will be heared next week after a probation officers report is presented before the Makadara court.

KENYAN MODEL TO MEET CECILE IN S.A

Kenyan model and humanitarian Ciru Maina who currently graces the cover of the November edition of the American Amoize magazine was recently joined  by Nollywood star Jim Iyke  in a  charity mission.

The early 20’s model that missed her modeling trip to Texas three months ago has a busy schedule ahead despite the unfortunate incident.

Taking a peek into one of her projects the Make a change Campaign together with Straight talk Foundation, a team of celebrities are set to make a difference in Kenya until early next .

Over the weekened the two took to Kibera slums in support for needy schools under the charity project 

During an interview she confessed her  plans to be in Jamaica this December before Christmas to join Jim for his reality show . Maina says "this will also be an opportunity to meet with Dancehall queen Cecile."

She believes this will make good use of her time as Cecile, who recently had a baby, is set to visit Nairobi and Mombasa with Mavado and other Jamaican stars to support Make A Change Campaign charity projects early next year.

She has been active on Heart heart foundation and Beauty of Rwanda which empowers women to be self-reliant through basket making since she began her career in 2009.

OFFICERS DEATH IN FATAL ROAD ACCIDENT

An enquiry into the fatal death of a police constable has been issued before a Makadara court over a fatal road accident.
The enquiry has cited that the minibus driver of Forward travelers escaped from the scene along jogoo road in fear of mob justice.

The deceased Stephen Mwangi Kariuki passed on after a fatal road accident in the morning of 14th December  just a few meters from the Footbridge of the same courts.

The deceased  who is a constable at the Kilimani station was crossing the road with his 10 year old son from the courts at about half past 9 am.

Fortunately the boy sustained serious injuries unlike his father who passed on the way to Kenyatta National Hospital with blood oozing from the nose,head and chest . His body was rushed to Chiromo mortuary by officers who arrived an hour later at the scene.

John Njeru Njeru,30 , was charged for causing death by dangerous driving in minibus registration number KBM  928B F, in  contrary to section 26 of the traffic act.

He was accused of driving the matatu at high speed exceeding the required 50 km/ph range that was heading to Kayole from town.

Investigations claim that he disappeared without considering to take the deceased to hospital and mainly ignored the nature of traffic along the same road at the speed rate of the bus.


The case will be heared on January 28th in the year 2013.

MAN BREATHES TO MAN SLAUGHTER CHARGE

A 33 year old man accused of murdering his neighbor had his case reduced to manslaughter charges yesterday.

Simon Mbuthia told a Makadara court the death was an accident during a fight in self defense.

He allegedley killed Joseph Macharia on December 2nd on his way home from work at Githurai Estate.

Yesterday he stood at the dock clothes soiled and stained with blood. He was saved by police from mob justice formed by angry residents.

Mbuthia stated that 3 men cornered him near their home plot including the deceased with intentions to steal sh 2000 from his pockets.

The father of two children told the court "Your honour we were drunkards and fighting heavily." Mbuthia said.

Consequently Mbuthia fought back and used a piece of wood to attack. Unfortunately he hit the deceased on the back of his head and dropped instantly to the ground.

Angry residents realised the incident and attacked Mbuthia. He was put to safety in Kimbo police station.

In a letter from office of DPP dated 4th December it stated that investigations were clear that both deceased and Mbuthia fought under the influence of alcohol.

The  Makadara court was asked to reduce the Charge following clear perusal of evidence further sighting the two were fighting over sh 50.

Mbuthia was granted a cash bail of sh 100,000 . The case will be heared on March 7th next year.

TOUT : "I PUNCHED PASSENGER"

A  tout confessed to a court that he assaulted a passenger in a fight shortly after hiking fare prices within Nairobi.

The 19 year old tout affirmed to charges of  causing body harm to a passenger by  violently punching the nose leading to hospital admission.

The drama unfolded after bus fare from town to Eastleigh hiked by sh 10.


Christopher Kariuki was the toute plying on route number 6 on 24th November of this month.

He ushered passengers to the vehicle shouting that prices were sh 20 on entry from town to Eastleigh at about 12.30 pm.

But a few minutes later out of town he demanded sh 30 from passengers. When passengers detested the change of fare price he randomly targeted a face and punched one.

However, the Makadara court postponed the case until the P3 form could be filed before court.

SONKO'S 'THIEF' TELLS COURT OF TORTURE IN CELLS


A man accused of stealing motor parts valued at sh 1.2 million
 from Makadara MP Mike Mbuvi  Sonko matatus will remain
 in custody for one more day.

This is due to a misplaced file having failed submission before
 court at the time of plea proceedings.
The suspect has been in custody for atleast five days but
will wait until the court can retrieve the file with detailed facts.

The file has detailed facts accusing  Samson Ochieng on three more charges of stealing  motor vehicles parts from two different owners and attempting to escape police custody at buru buru station.

He was accused of stealing numerous motor starters and alternaters amounting to 1,245,000 belonging to three different owners including MP Mike Sonko.

The suspect was accused of stealing from six different matatus of Isuzu make belonging to MP Mbuvi. The charge alleges that Ochieng took Six starters and six alternators on October 23 rd last month
 amounting to sh 1,200,000.

Yesterday, Ochieng denied all charges but confessed to being in possession of only two starters placed as exhibits in police station.

Prosecution applied for his custody inorder to retrieve the file with detailed facts  in the case.

Before the court could proceed further , Ochieng stated torture allegations in the cells claiming that an officer used a metal rod to hit his spine and other body parts .

He described to the court a grim incident of the assault and explained that the result of injury made it impossible to attempt any escape from police custody.

R.M Magistrate Esther Nyongesa  requested for the officers tag number and summoned for appearance in court.

The case will be mentioned on November 27  th  inorder for exhibits to be arraigned before the Makadara court.

DUTCH FRAUD CASE POSTPONED AFTER ELECTIONS

A  fraud case involving a  Dutch National  in a sh 5.4 million worth of flowers, has been postponed with a date set after next years general election.
  
The case began after Elroy Kraneveld was arrested at JKIA  as he was leaving for Netherlands on March 30th this year.

The 41 year old businessman was charged before a Makadara court for falsely pretending he would pay  about  232,720 stems of Rose flowers supplied by a farmer from Kinangop.

Before his arrest the suspect was listed as "wanted" and  Office of Immigration was alerted through a letter from the Criminal Investigations Department.

The letter indicated events of the fraud case alleged to have been committed on diverse dates of March 1st and 31st May of 2011. Kranveld was accused of obtaining the Rose flowers valued at sh 5.4 million.

The court detained his travel documents but he managed to secure a sh 3 million cash bail  to proceed with the case away from remand custody.

Prosecutor Leonard Kurgat brought forward at-least 9 exhibits in the case,where two witness testified by yesterday.
 
Kurgat objected to the defense lawyers application to handle the case after six months. But the lawyer insisted the exhibits in court were new and would require at-least two full days to cross examine in the case.

One of the witnesses produced documents citing a business agreement indicating Kranvelds interests to export the flowers to Holland on behalf of Multi Grow Investments limited.

The court heared that Kranveld began packaging and exporting the flowers from Kenya in October 2010.

The court heared that two of the remaining witnesses will be campaigning for political posts and will be occupied until after next years general elections.

Other documents of email were produced showing detailed communication between the suspect and the company in flower business.

Senior Principal Magsitrate Timothy Okello said the case will be heard on March 18th and 19th of 2013 next year.

DAD: "ILL KILL YOU!"

A 34 year old man was yesterday charged for threatening to kill his 59 year old father within Nairobi.

Peter Gachuha remains in custody since his arrest over the weekend charged for creating disturbance.

He was arrested and found with a kitchen knife that he used to threat his father with in the night of 17th November .


Although prosecution claimed to readily avail the knife as an exhibit, he denied the count before a Makadara court.

He allegedly stormed into the house in a drunken stouper and attacked his father for failing to give him money for alcohol at Mwiki area in Kayole.

Gachuha took the knife and threatened to stab his father  before he managed to find an escape root to Mwiki police station.

He was granted a cash bail of sh 2000 . The case will be heard on March 21st next year.

BHANG ABUSER RISKS ONE YEAR IN JAIL

A man who confessed to possessing marijuana has one week to convince a court that he should not be sentenced to one year imprisonment.

Peter Karanja Mwangi affirmed to a court that he was caught with 7 rolls of bhang worth sh 70.

The substance which was not in medicinal form obliged officers to arrest him on Saturday November 17th at Gikomba market.


Coincidentally officers were at his rescue as he was also being attacked by a mob for suspicion of stealing within the same market.


 Karanja told the Makadara court that he abused the susbtance due to his nature of hard labor and waking up to odd jobs on a daily basis.

The court requested for a probation officers report on the 26th of November .

If he fails to appeal through good conduct he risks facing up to 12 months imprisonment for possessing bhang.

DOCTOR TO BE ARRESTED FOR IGNORING COURT


A warrant of arrest has been issued against a doctor for failing to
appear in court on several instances to testify in a case of sodomy.

The case has accused a 43 year old father of sodomizing his seven year
old son four years ago .



The  Makadara court declare that yesterday was its last adjournment and expected was slowed down by the doctors requirement to testify.

The case which began in the year 2009 has seen atleast 17 hearing
dates of which the doctor from Nairobi Womens hospital has failed to
appear before the court despite being bonded seeverally.

Prosecutor Leonard Kurgat applied for the doctors arrest saying " Your
honor the doctor does not take the court seriously and has shown
disrespect to the case."

The case has prosecuted the boys father on two counts that of
sodomising with an alternative of indecent touching him on diverse
dates between 10th and 29th July of 2009.

He was arrested when a female neighbour at Korogocho area, noticed the
boy had a strange walk in the morning of 29th July in 2009.

The boy confessed to the woman that her father had been sodomising him
in the night for at least three months in a raw.

Medical records from the same hospital indicate the child was sexually
violated and had assault wounds in his private parts.

Senior Principal Magistrate Timothy Okello obliged to application made
by prosecution for the doctors arrest where the Muthangari OCS is set
to effect the orders.

So far atleast three witnesses were listed whereby the Doctors
response had caused a delay.

The case will be heared on November 21st.

STRIPPER DENIES ATTACKING MOTHER




A nineteen year old stripper  yesterday denied attacking and injuring her mother after a drunk confrontation  from a night of clubbing.

The teenager was accused of using a stool to hit her mothers head before uprooting her hair and biting bother hands.

Martha Wanjiku was charged for assaulting her 50 year old mother and causing her to sustain injuries of actual body harm on 12th November.

She appeared before a Makadara court with an additional count of  maliciously damaging her mothers television set  worth sh 4,900.

During the 5.30am incident drama began when Wanjiku burged into her mothers house insisting she needed to speak to her sister on mobile since her phone was stolen. But her mother cautioned that her phone died off.

She instantly began accusing her mother for neglecting her 3 year old child  claiming she was not responsible to assist her with proper baby sitting while she runs to her nightlife.

Neighbors resisted intervening since they "fear wanjiku's association with rough men."

After several sirens, relatives arrived at the scene to save Wanjikus mother.


She was rushed  to hospital and reported the incident at Huruma station. The court granted her  yesterday a cash bail of sh 5,000.

If her mother fails to reconcile and Wanjiku is found guilty she risks a minimum of 10 years imprisonment.

The case will be heared on March 23rd next year.

HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST OUT ON BOND


Seven rights activist arrested for demonstrating within Mathare area
four are now able to proceed with their case away from remand custody.


They were arrested upon a march against insecurity in the area and
accused on  four  fresh charges before a Makadara court.


Female rights activist was among the suspects who pleaded not guilty
to the new charges.
This is the recent court appearance she makes within the same month
accumulating to seven court cases with her name.

These four recent counts include disorderly conduct in a police
building,creating disturbance,improper use of telecommunication system
such as 'irritating' Huruma OCS through text messages and obstructing
a police officer.

Karores's allegation of torture in cells led the court to summons for
arresting officers to answer in a later date of mention.

According to credible sources yesterday, her gun shot wounds were
treated with assistance from IMLU, a local NGO that responds to
torture incidents.

Further summons were to enquire whether the officers obtained their
communication devices and personal belongings, as well as being held
at starehe station in incommunicado.

Their court cases sprang after their protest on insecurity in mathare,
where two residents were killed by criminals in the wee hours of the
night about four weeks ago.

  Fortunatelythe court granted all seven a cash bail amounting to sh 350,000.

Their cases will be heared on the same date of February 8th next year.

FRESH EVIDENCE IN EGYPTIAN FRAUD CASE

The case involving an Egyptian couple accused of defrauding over  8 million shillings worth of medicines made developments with a fresh exhibit introduced in the case just before the ruling.

The last of the three witnesses finally testified in the case that began at Makadara court in August this year.

Mohammed Mahmoud and his wife Amira haroon were accused of obtaining on credit various assorted pharmaceutical supplies worth sh 8,233,355.75 from Saicare Enterprises Alpha centre along mombasa road.

Between 2nd April and 9th July this year the couple obtained medicines in the pretence they would pay, contrary to section 316 (a) of the penal code.

Furthermore, the couple allegedly returned over 397,500 medicines to
Saicare Enterprises without a guarantee of its quality.

The last witness told the court investigations proved the couple was
unwilling to pay for the medicines , since the drawers of the sh 3.8
million bounced cheques told their banks not to allow the transactions.

Yesterday was the last hearing as the new exhibit , a typed letter was
filed in court.The exhibit was the third , including several invoices
and records of bad cheques previously debated in the same court.

The document was written by the suspects lawyer on November 1st this month. It exposed the couples willingness to settle the case on fraud allegations outside court but intend to further sue the complainant
about sh 50,000,000 because of  damages dragged through rigorous court process and humiliation at large.

However, the letter was viewed as a form of "confession"  and "intimidation" as it partly read "......clients are amicable to settlement if you withdraw your complaint and admit liability for the process..."

The letter further specified "...our clients will look to you for damages in the sum of 50 million less the sum of due to you as per the invoices. If this is agreeable to you we are prepared to close the case on the next court appearance...."

Fortunatelythe couple is able to proceed with the case away from
custody with a sh 250,000 cash bail each.

Senior Principal Magistrate Timothy Okello said the ruling will be for
November 23rd this month.

CONFESSIONS OF SH 1.6 MILLION CONSHIP

A Man admitted his intentions to defraud off a business woman sh 1.6
million within Nairobi.

Samuel Njoroge 44, confessed before a Makadara court that he pretended
to be in the position to sell a parcel of land to her in Dandora.

He was charged jointly with others not before court for obtaining
money in false pretense on 24th of september this year.

However before the court could conclude to its ruling, the case was
set for a later date after the man admitted to facts read aloud by
prosecution.

He affirmed to prosecution when read in court that he intended to
defraud Emily Wangari of sh 1,600,000 at Mungulla Advocate City Hall
in Nairobi.

He falsely portrayed the ability to sell plot number 992 in
Dandora phase one, contrary to section 313 of the penal code.

The case will require relevant exhibits and documents before the
Magistrate. Prosecution applied for a mention date set this month on
November 11 th.

The man was arrested a month later on 29th October of last month and
has been in custody .

EGYPTIAN COUPLE ON SH 8 MILLION FRAUD CHARGE

A case which has accused an Egyptian couple of defrauding over sh 8,000,000 million  worth of medicines awaits for one more witness before the court can make its judgement.

Atleast two of three listed  witnesses testified against the couple by yesterday.

Mohammed Mahmoud and his wife Amira haroon were accused of obtaining on credit various assorted pharmaceutical supplies worth sh 8,233,355.75 from Saicare Enterprises Alpha centre along mombasa road.

The first witness who is also the business owner, confirmed to the court with bank statements that they were sent over sh 3.8 million bounced cheques.

Between 2nd April and 9th July this year the couple obtained medicines in the pretence they would pay, contrary to section 316 (a) of the penal code.

The second witness declared that the couple were active and frequent medicine buyers for the past four years.

The court heared that Saicare Enterprises allow goods on credit but on short agreements of either 30, 60 and 90 days but the couple failed to fulfil their part.

Instead the the couple returned over 397,500 medicines to Saicare Enterprises without a guarentee of its quality.

Before the court could proceed Senior Principal Magistrate Timothy Okello received the suspects travel documents as a guarentee of  their court attendance since each was out on a sh 250 cash bail.

According to a credible source the husband isaid to be a doctor and currently connected to the Kenya Medical practitioners board.

Inaddition they are facing other allegations of such offences before the Makdara court.

The final witness in the case will be heared  next week on November 8 .

VIOLENT NEIGHBOUR RELEASED BY A COURT

A case involving assault  charges over two fighting neighbors was yesterday dismissed and withdrawn from court.

A makadara court released a 29 year old woman , accused of attacking her female neighbour in Kayole early this year.

Alice Wanjiku was released when the complainant in the case was absent from court despite being bonded.

She allegedley attacked her female neighbour on 29th March causing bodily harm and injuries on her chest and stomach.

The attacked was triggered when Wanjiku was poured on water early in the the morning on her way to work at 10 am.

Upon her arrest on the same day, she secured her freedom in a sh 20,000 cash bail.

Senior Principal Magistrate Timothy Okello said the case was withdrawn under secton 202 of the cpc act.

WATCHMAN IN CUSTODY FOR DEFILING MINOR

A watchman denied two different counts of sexually violating a nine year old girl during school holidays.

Benard Njogu ,25, denied raping and indecently touching the minors body parts on August 31st last month.

He allegedly gagged the girl,tied and strapped her arms to the back of her body at about 7pm as she sat outside their house in Sunton estate, Kasarani.

She had not suspected his intention when he volunteered to keep her company outside their house on that night.

Consequently, the offense occurred in a series of hours from around 7 pm when he dragged her to the back of a dark building that was under construction.

Three months after the incident , he was arrested and identified as the guard of the unfinished building where the offence took place.

He was charged for intentional defilement and indecent touching before a Makadara court.

Medical reports established the minor was sexually abused and is yet to face therapy sessions.

The suspect remains in custody after failing to secure a heavy bond of over sh 100,000.

If found guilty he will serve more than 20 years imprisonment .

The case will be heared on 19th  February next year.

TEENAGE BOY IN JUVENILE FOR DRUG RAPE

A 17 year old boy accused of drugging and cohabiting with a 14 year old girl remains in juvenile custody eight weeks now.

The boy was accused of unlawfully living with the standard seven pupil for five days at his house in Kayole.

He was charged for infringing the rights of a minor by inducing her to engage in adult consent activities.

According to Prosecution, the suspect negligently engaged the minor in physical and psychological abuse contrary to section 15 as read with section 20 of the children act of 2001.

The teenage boy was accused of coarsing her into the activities between 23 rd September and 26th September this year, thereby rendering her to be a child of in need of cars and property.

He denied the charge before a Makadara court but failed to secure his release in a sh 300,000 bond.

The court ordered investigations to finalise and produce exhibits that would clearly question the suspects innocence.

This includes an investigating officer to record their ground statement and produce one more witness before court.

However, the court insisted in confirming the suspects true age and ordered for an age assessment report.

In addition medical reports are required with supporting facts the girl was treated two months ago at Medicins Sans Frontiers on 27th September.

The case will be heared on December 3rd this year.

GRANDMOTHER ACHIEVES UNIVERSITY DEGREE

They say one is never too old to dream, and that is proving to be true for a 75-year-old woman who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and Administration at Bugema University. This was during the 18th graduation ceremony at the university yesterday.

Ms Janet Mutisya Silla, 75, who joined the university three years ago, said the course has grounded her with information about social work, which she is passionate about. “I am elated. Now I am just as educated as my four daughters who are here with me,” said Ms Silla. Her former classmates, who would have otherwise made fun of her advanced age, instead consulted her for anecdotes about life.

FANS DANCE IN THE RAIN TO JUST A BAND.


Just a band went into a new series of  different musical beats during their pre-listening party. 

All group members of the band , syncronised in turns on the DJ deck to a crumbed room of fans at the Goethe Institute in a warm indoor setting.



But two weeks after that, hundereds of the bands fans showed up despite the pouring rain  at KICC grounds on Saturday.


On Saturday, It was the bands live Launch party for their latest album "Sorry for the Delay." Clearly they were expressive for their three year silence since their last studio album.

Fans were placed on the grounds with access to various Google tents. They danced to ecstatic tunes of the albums wide genre including  jazz, hip-hop, disco and electronica.

The rain served as a cooler for hyper fans with many in umbrellas as all age groups just danced in the rain.

During the glorious weekend event tech support system at the event with two flat screens projecting updates from Google plus fans, and other partners .

AFRO-URBAN ARTISTS ON PEACEFUL SOUNDS


An eccentric event sparkled music lovers over the weekened at the Goeth Institute setting a peace mode for next years general election.

P.A.U (Pamoja Amani Upendo)  comprises of 57 members performed Afro-urban sounds from7pm on Friday till late.

The event dubbed ' Upendo 2012' is a Peace concert saw Ukoo flani artist, Sharma perform as a supporting member.

The groups Chairman, Richie  Rich says after the weeks event they plan to tour nationwide in major towns if sponsors roll in." We come from different backgrounds in education and towns. We bring the love through our performances as a community based organization."

The groups diversity included various talents in Percussion, Afro fusion, Rap, Modelling and twisting trends of urban acrobats.

The event was expected to show a magnitude through diversity, as the youngest member is nine years and the oldest 70.

Percussionist and Member, Kaboge Chagala expressed deep value saying "We have professions and artists in the group such as lawyers and university students who dedicate their support to the CBO."

On weekdays the music lovers are spotted at Kenya National Theater from 11 am to midday in rigorous practice.

ABDUCTION CHARGES HITS MOTHER BACK

A 40 year old mother who set abduction charges against a relative for taking her 14 old son  forcefully is set to face another case accusing her of being an irresponsible parent.

The mother had accused her sister-in-law of forcefully detaining her 14 year old son  in a tag of war  early this month.

However, a makadara court postponed the abduction case for a later date citing the boys mother is to face a higher court in another case accusing her of negligence.
Before the court could proceed with the case, doors were shut in the childrens court room to ensure privacy and secure identity.

The auntie ,a sister  to the boys father  responded almost instantly when police reports filed the abduction case.  The suspect approached a higher court accusing the boys mother of Child negligence and requesting for the court to allow her custody over the boy.

During a press interview, she said "the father left the child 12 years ago and flew overseas without a word."

The counter case accuses the mother of assaulting the boy and lacking the responsibility to care for her own son,thereby child negligence.

The  boys mother expresses fear and sense conspiracy in the case. "I believe this case is being heavily funded from overseas to get my child's custody away from me."she said in a teary voice.

The case will be heared at the Milimani courts this month.

AKON PROMISES A THRILLING STAGE APPEARANCE

Akon during a Skype interview.

International artist Akon confirmed through a live video conference that he is going to perform in Kenya without fail.

The star who is set to do a Akon Live concert for two days promised during a Press interview via Skype that he will not disappoint fans.

He will have a small entourage with him in maximum numbers of 20.

This is the third time Kenyans will anticipate his appearance in Kenya within the past six years. But the artiste assured inquisitive press, this time he will set foot on the Kenyan soil.


Akons press conference was aired at the Carnivore restaurant, where he is scheduled to make his performance next weekend.

Chatting from Amsterdam on Friday at 3.00 pm he said, "Expect surprises and as my songs will have a Kenyan twist to represent its uniqueness."

He lands in Kenya at exactly 19.05 GMT on Thursday night and will be staying at Ole Sereni.

Thrilling performance of his old mixes and new genres are expected during the concert on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October at the Carnivore restaurant.

Tickets go for a sh 2,500 and VIP tickets go for sh 5,000.

FEMALE ACTIVIST FACES SOCIAL INJUSTICE

A Social rights activist was yesterday rearrested exactly two days after facing incitement charges before a Makadara court.

Beatrice Karore was put in custody alongside three other activists as they were recording statements concerning several threats received.

However, they were locked up under unclear circumstances exactly two days after their release from court on Monday.

Sources state that all four activists feared for their lives and grouped together to report the threats at Starehe police station.

On Monday, the female activist in her 30's was among three others who denied the charges and were each released on a sh 10,000 cash bail.

They were bailed out through a fund raise of mathare residents and family present in the court room.

They allegedly incited a mob in Mathare slums to demonstrate against insecurity in the area after two of their residents were killed by robbers on Saturday night.

Before her arrest during the demonstration she was shot by police on her lower back  and is currently healing from the deep wounds.

Another man was also caught int he crossfire and was shot on his right hand and seeks well wishers for proper medical care.

Bitter residents who were eye witnesses denied claims by the Huruma OCS that she was treated after her custody in cells.

According to a resident of the slums, "Insecurity has become a serious issue int he area and needs affirmative action."

The case will be heared on 7th January next year.

DJ REPUBLIK ONE YEAR OLD PARTY


DJ republik marked a groovy celebration over the weekend for their one year anniversary party.

The event was filled with thrilled guests dancing to the theme dubbed Glow in the dark at the Vineyard restaurant in Westlands.

Three Djs of the groups six showcased their skills on the deck, spinning to mixes of all genres from Saturday evening to Sunday morning with Drew, Hypnotic and Crème de la creme.

According to the group Manager Kalekye Mumo , they are the biggest DJs in the industry and intend to tour all over Africa. “This is just the tip of the iceberg and people should watch this space and learn how it’s done.”

However, she has experienced her fair share of challenges before marking their surface of October 13 . Before the glorious cake cutting she said “Handling all six men has not been easy but they deliver.” 

The celebration marks performances in East Africa, South Africa and Rwanda. Other guests at the event were Proff,Sanaipei,Sauti Sol,KJ and his wife (also marking their anniversary),Jamuhuri wear, Manga and Big pin

MINORS ON CAPITAL OFFENCE CHARGES

Three minors risk missing their KCPE Exams after being charged on several charges of robbery with violence in Kayole.

The candidates were charged along another 23 year old man who was accused of being a notorious facilitator of crimes in the same area.

Before the court read aloud the four different charges they were warned that the crime holds a heavy penalty punishable to life imprisonment.

They were accused of robbing valuables and cash worth sh 30,000 from residents in the wee hours of the night dating 29th September and 1st October of this year.

They allegedley used dangerous weapons used to threaten and intimidate their victims.  During and after the act they conducted violent attacks on their victims causing them minor assaults.

All suspects represented themselves before a Makadara court and denied the charges . Only one of the candidates parents was present pleading for the court to release their child and consider the need to prepare for KCPE .

However, Principal Magistrate Rose Otieno ordered a childs officer to confirm the actual status of the minors before their  release from being in the minors custody . The magistrate made it clear to the court that a report is to be established on whether the other minors have guardians and the identity of their schools.

The case will be heared on January next year.



MAN DENIES ATTEMPTS TO BURN MOTHERS HOUSE


A man remains in custody for attempting to burn down his mothers house and threatening to stab his brother from a heated family squabble within Eastlands.

Francis Maina told a court that he was under constant pressure and felt victimized by his family.

He denied the charges and told the court that he was being charged in court inorder for his family to split property unfairly.

He was accused of for attempting to burn down his mothers house at kiamaiko village in Huruma. On 24th September he found his belongings kicked out of the house and reacted violently .

The court heared that the house was bought by the deceased father but Maina resides in the squatters and his elder brother resides in the main house .

He allegedley threatened to stab his bother with a knife after they were fighting for the bigger share of rental houses.He was charged with creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.

Maina who represented himself was unable to pay a sh 30,000 cash bail . If found guilty he risks facing upto 20 years imprisonment.

 His case will be heared on 21st december this year.

HOOLIGANS ADMIT ATTACKING OFFICERS IN A MOB

Two men who attacked police offers in a mob now risk facing two years imprisonment at their own plea of guilty.

This comes after the court adjourned their case in order to rectify proper charges against the culprits who affirmed to throwing stones at the officers.

Fredrick Njoroge,31 and John Mwangi 28 will remain in custody until the court can correct two of  all three counts they accepted.

They were charged before Resident Magistrate Esther Nyongesa for committing the offences at Kahawa Sukari on 9th October.

First the touts resisted arrest and threatened the officers saying " mumezoea kutushikashika leo mutatuona....". They further incited violence in a mob while throwing stones directed at the officers station. They continued to damage a motor vehicle through the tag of war and activity.

According to law the first two charges carry lenient fines  such as sh 20,000 which was not appropriate on record. The two committed a crime of obstructing officers while on line of duty.

Therefore,the Prosecutor begged the court to correct the first two charges in line with with the New police National service act of 2011 as recently passed by the Parliament.

In the new service act the fine holds up to sh 500,000 or default two years imprisonment.

AFRICANS CAUSE AIRPORT DRAMA AND MISS FLIGHT


About 19  African foreigners were charged and released for causing havoc and threatening the sate of security at JKIA .

The foreigners were on transit to Bankok , Guanzhou and Dubai but the KQ airline had mishaps and offered to give them accommodation in local hotels.
Both men and women from different Francophone countries and Congo spent several hours in court custody for lack of a French interpreter.

Yesterday, Prosecution stated they were aggressive after the airline offered to compensate their flight delay and refused to follow lawful instructions in a foreign land.

They were released without a fine under section 35(1) a of the CPC act. Before their charges were read aloud they were unclear on whether they could understand any of the East african languages or English.

Translation was partly conducted by one of the accused from Congo.  They all affirmed to paralyzing operations at the airport and blocking security personnel’s as a gang.

However, Senior Principal Magistrate Theresia Mwangi expressed discomfort with the translation and insisted for the court to access a French translator.

“The offence has a serious penalty and the delay is necessary to ensure your understanding and no excuses made after the sentence.” she warned.

After spending four days in custody and missing their flight they all knelled int he dock mitigating for their release hoping to avoid further delays. One of the cried in court saying they had not feed for those 24 hours in custody and they were parents.

The court adjourned their case for several hours and released all stating they had learned their lessons and considered that their flight was rescheduled for the same evening.
