Two Slovakian Journalists were released by a Makadara court
after wrongfully insulting security officers and uttering racist words
at JKIA on Wednesday.
Zuzana Anannova and Lauric Daniel were traveling to Zurich on Swiss
airlines before they were arrested and charged for creating disturbance
in the airport.
Moments after their charge was read aloud in court the two readily
affirmed to the offense. They pleaded guilty to shouting nasty words and
called Swiss airlines security 'You are all Monkeys'.
Fortunately their Slovakian Republican Ambassador to Kenya was in the court room to witness the proceedings and ensure their safe escort.
The journalists were from Slovakian Development Aid shooting
documentary projects in various slums including Kibera and Mukuru
Kwa Njenga within Nairobi .
Zuzana who was persistent to speakup,
told the magistrate upon her arrest she was suffering from stomach
upsets and needed help after her project. They were under the Slovakian
Republic and government to film HIV street boys.
Prosecutor Esther Ngure told the court they were arrested by JKIA
officers on flight number LX293 of Swiss airlines at gate number five of
the departure unit and travel documents were seized. She further notified the court , the accused
freedom would follow protocol and be led by by officers to Immigration
because the two did not acquire visas.
Their lawyer alarmed the court the two were a couple readily engaged
 for
marriage and pleaded for a non custodial sentence. She said the two
suffered enough by missing their flight and  expressed remorse for their
conduct further applying for release of their documents.
Principal Magistrate Racheal Otieno said the court was satisfied that they
learned their lesson through harsher custody conditions in a foreign
land. She further warned that the insults were not amusing to the court
and that every human being deserved dignity . "The insults were
provocative, and unwanting it was wrong to abuse someone as an animal."
she said firmly.
Their freedom was without a fine option, "The court has accepted the mitigation under section 351 of the CPC
act.You should observe decency at all times." she concluded.
