A 20 year old told a court that he lacks an identity card
which would have granted his release from custody.
Peter Kimani who was arrested and charged for creating disturbance
was unable to secure his freedom instantly through a free bond because he did
not possess identification documents.
Upon his arrest he was found with a knife fighting with his
fellow tout along racecourse road last month on September 28 th.
He told a Makadara court that his parents passed away and he
missed the necessary documents that
would facilitate the process of acquiring an ID.
Instead he was granted cash bail of sh 1000 which would
secure his presence in court.
He represented himself and told Principal Magistrate Rachael
Otieno that he was a “hustler” and would not afford the cash bail.
But the court explained that he was not in a position to
proceed with the case from outside unless he secured sh 1000. His case will be heard on 14th January next year.
