KENYA'S 'OSAMA' WANNABE RELEASED

A 28 year old man was fined sh 50,000 for threatening passengers in a flight that he was a terrorist and had explosives.

The flight was to land directly in Nairobi from Dubai when the culprit shouted that he was Osama Bin Laden’s associate.

Kenneth Okiri  Ondidi was released by a Makadara court after he affirmed to charges of jeopardizing good order and discipline on board in an aircraft.

Passengers made distressing calls to friends and relatives when he stood last Thursday to stay, “I will blow the aircraft before it lands.”

However he confessed before Senior Principal Magistrate Theresia Mwangi that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Okiri had been working in Dubai with a permit set to expire on 2015 but was canceled and deported through KQ flight number 315.

He mitigated before the court there was free liquor in the aircraft and apologized for his misconduct, which was contrary to the civil aviation act of cap 394 of laws of Kenya.

SPM T. Mwangi said that it was an era of terrorism and such statements were not to be taken lightly. His misconduct stirred emotions and distress to everyone on board. “But by giving to your own misgivings of excess liquor you have 14 days to pay the fine or six months imprisonment.”
