EIGHT MONTHS FOR STABBING NEIGHBORS EYE

A 21 year old man risks facing eight months imprisonment for stabbing his neighbors eye and causing hospital admission within Nairobi.

Stephen Kibey was charged for assaulting his neighbor after a confrontation at their work place on 18th August last year.

Drama unfolded when Kibey took his neighbors jacket without permission from work and insisted that he was going posses it for the evening.

He used a wooden piece of timber to attack the upper forehead at about 7pm and  hitting the eye to burst, causing grevious harm contrary to section 251 of the penal code.

Kibey entered a plea of not guilty on August 29th before a Makadara court. But yesterday he begged the court to change his plea after the magistrate expressed resistance.

So far the case has had two hearing dates with one witness in the case that testified.

Senior Reident Magistrate Esther Nyongesa gave relief to his seven months custody when sh granted a sh 10,000 fine.

He has 14 days to pay the fine or face 10 months imprisonment.
